I Have a Lot of Feelings—Here’s the Tool That Helps Me Stay Grounded in Business
I have a lot of feelings. The character I resonate with most from mean girls, is the crying girl who “doesn’t even go here.”
There was a time when I didn’t know what to do with them. I would numb them—through alcohol, through overachieving, through whatever distraction I could find.
Now, I’ve learned how to process them.
And while that may sound basic, the truth is most of us were never taught how to actually feel our emotions—let alone move through them. We try to think our way out of feelings, avoid them, suppress them, or distract ourselves from them. But it doesn’t work.
One of the tools that has helped me most in my emotional processing is tapping—also known as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT).
For most of us, our emotions run the show
Most of us are afraid of our own feelings.
When I’m coaching clients and we start digging into their fears—whether it’s fear of judgment, failure, rejection—what we almost always discover is that they’re not actually afraid of the thing happening… they’re afraid of what they’ll feel if it does.
They’re not afraid of someone judging them.
They’re afraid of the shame that judgment might trigger.
They’re not afraid of launching and hearing crickets.
They’re afraid of feeling embarrassed or unworthy.
They’re not afraid of rejection.
They’re afraid of what that rejection might mean about them—and how that will feel in their body.
At the core, it’s never really about the outcome. It’s about the emotion underneath it.
Confidence Means Knowing You Can Handle How It Feels
There’s a definition of confidence I love:
Confidence is when you know you can handle the emotional outcome of any situation.
That’s what tapping has given me.
It’s one of my go to tools I turn to when I need to process something and it always helps me return to myself and lead from a grounded place.
What Is Tapping?
Tapping is also called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and it’s based on the meridian points used in Chinese medicine. Like acupuncture, but instead of needles, we use acupressure by tapping gently with our fingertips on certain points of the body.
While tapping, you speak out loud—either repeating what someone is guiding you to say, or saying what comes up for you.
When I’m guiding clients, I keep it simple. We breathe, we tap through the meridian points, and we say what’s true. It helps them shift out of whatever emotional spiral they’re in and return to a more neutral or empowered state.
Why I Use Tapping
There are a few main ways I use tapping, both personally and with clients:
1. For Emotional Regulation
Especially when emotions feel heavy—anxiety, fear, overwhelm, shame—tapping helps me regulate and move through them instead of staying stuck. I first started using it to move through panic attacks. It felt like I had taken a sedative. That’s how powerful it was.
2. As Part of My Manifestation Process
There’s a phase of my manifestation work that involves identifying and clearing limiting beliefs. Often those beliefs are deeply emotional—linked to past experiences or internalized shame—and tapping helps me move through them on a somatic level.
3. For Deep Emotional Release
Sometimes, when something big is moving through me, I’ll sit down with a tissue box and a tapping video and let it all out. I don’t do this often—maybe once a month—but when I do, it feels like a full emotional detox.
Tapping Resources I Recommend
If you’re just getting started, here are a few of my go-to resources:
Brad Yates on YouTube — perfect for quick emotional resets (he has less than 10 min videos for nearly every emotion or situation imaginable)
Sonya Sophia — for those deep emotional healing and releases (her sessions are longer and more intense, but incredibly powerful)
Gala Darling’s method — the technique I was trained in and use with clients, especially in my manifestation work
You are bigger than your emotions
Tapping is one of the tools that has built my inner leadership. It’s helped me step into the drivers seat of my life. Not just as a person, but as a leader and entrepreneur.
It helps me return to my body, regulate my emotions, and move forward with clarity and confidence. I practice it myself and with my clients, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to stop being hijacked by their own emotions—and start leading from a grounded, powerful place.
Have you tried tapping before? What’s your experience with it? If you’re interested in learning more about how I tap or have any questions about it- drop a comment below, would love to hear from you.
