How Productivity Impacts Career Change and Burnout for Doctors

Have you ever felt like you're running on a giant hamster wheel? That no matter how hard you work, it's not enough- there are still one million things left to do.

My guest this week Dr. Serene Shereef felt exactly the same way. She worked herself into a hole of burnout while trying to balance being both a Mom AND an acute care trauma surgeon. She tried all the different productivity hacks and tools to try to get everything done, but at the end of the day she still felt overwhelmed and like she wasn't doing enough.

She quit her job as a trauma surgeon and took time to rediscover her interests, connect to her priorities and desires and redefine what productivity means to her.

She decided that productivity doesn't have to be just about getting more and more things done- instead productivity is about doing LESS , but intentionally doing the things that add the biggest value to your life.

Listen in to this weeks episode as Serene and I talk about...

  • Shifting your mindset from "I'm not enough" to "I'm more than enough"

  • Reframing the way you think about failure

  • Navigating the realities of the medical system to practice on your own terms

  • Getting OFF the hamster wheel and connecting to what's most important in your life

  • Using productivity to do more of what actually matters to you

This episode is full of practical tips and wisdom that are going to change the way you think about productivity.
