Should you be posting “political” content right now? Is staying silent on social media a moral failure? How are you supposed to use your platform during times like these?
What’s the right thing to do?
These are the questions, I’ve been asking myself, since the start of my online business, but more urgentlyover the past few weeks.
These are the questions my clients have been asking during our private coaching calls this week.
These are big questions.
And spoiler alert…. I don’t have the answers. I also don’t think “the answers” exist. Meaning- there is no one right way to navigate something like this.
There is no playbook for “what to post on social media for ethical online businesses serving a country on the brink of fascism”.
So with that context in mind, I’m sharing the lens I use to answer these questions for myself. The mental framework I use to approach my business during times of world crisis.
I talk about how I shifted from asking the surface level questions of “how am I supposed to show up on social media” to “how can I create safe spaces for the people I am serving”.
If you are planning to be in business for the long game, this won’t be the last “world crisis” you face. (I don’t know why I put “world crisis” in quotes. I honestly just don’t know how to use words to succinctly summarize what’s going on).
My way is not the right way. It’s just the world crisis operating system I’ve chosen that works for me.
Ultimately what I want this post to do, is to open up a space and a dialogue to ask the big questions. I want to give you permission to establish your own crisis operating system. One that aligns with your standards of integrity + nervous system capacity + business goals.
